For Manufacturers & Builders

Spec a Locking Hatch into Your Enclosed Trailer or Shed Build

LockingHatch is a production-ready locking access door that trailer manufacturers and shed builders can install on the line or offer as a buyer upgrade. Complete kit. No sourcing separate parts. Made in the USA.

Why Manufacturers Add It

Ships as a Complete Kit

Door, bezel, keyed lock, two keys, and security screws in one box. No hardware store run. Nothing to source separately. Drop it into your BOM and it ships direct.

Line-Ready Installation

One cutout, one bezel, twelve screws. Works in aluminum, steel, fiberglass, plywood, OSB and vinyl-sided panels. One cutout and one set of screws per door, so it fits a production workflow.

Keyed Alike Across Packs

2-packs and 3-packs are keyed alike so one key opens every hatch on the build. Useful for trailer manufacturers who want a single-key side-access setup on the same unit.

A Real Shed Upgrade

Most shed kits and custom shed builders offer nothing for cord and hose pass-throughs. Adding a LockingHatch as a standard feature or buyer add-on gives your builds something big-box sheds cannot match.

Built for Trailer Manufacturers

Shore-power cords, battery tenders, and quick side access — without opening the rear ramp. A practical standard feature or buyer option for enclosed cargo, V-nose and landscape trailer builds.

Made in the USA

Designed and manufactured in Sarasota, FL by the makers of The RV Fuel Vault. 3/16" fiber-filled, UV-stabilized polymer with a limited lifetime warranty. Your customers will know it is a real part, not an import.

Panel Cutout Specifications

Two rectangular sizes cover the most common use cases. A free true-scale printable template is available for each size so your production team can mark and cut without measuring every time.

Builder & Manufacturer FAQ

Can enclosed trailer manufacturers spec a LockingHatch door into new builds?

Yes. LockingHatch doors are designed to be installed during production as easily as they are retrofitted. Cut the opening to the template dimensions, set the bezel and door, fasten with the included security screws and the key lock is ready. The Small door requires a 4-7/8" W × 5-1/8" H cutout and the Large door requires a 4-7/8" W × 6" H cutout in any panel material: aluminum, steel, fiberglass, wood or T1-11.

Do shed kit manufacturers or shed builders offer a locking hatch as a standard or optional feature?

Not widely — which is the opportunity. A locking hatch is a practical, low-cost upgrade that customers notice: it lets them run a garden hose, extension cord, or power tool cord through the wall without leaving a gap, and locks when not in use. Shed builders who offer LockingHatch as a standard feature or add-on give buyers something they cannot get from a big-box shed kit.

What is included in a LockingHatch kit for a production build?

Every kit ships complete: the hinged door, the mounting bezel, a tamper-resistant keyed lock cylinder, two keys, and the security screws. Nothing is sourced separately. Multi-packs (2-pack, 3-pack) are keyed alike, so one key opens every hatch on a build — useful for trailer manufacturers who want a single-key setup for shore-power cords, battery tenders and side access.

What panel materials and thicknesses does a LockingHatch work with?

The bezel mounts over the outside face of the panel cutout. It can be installed in aluminum, steel, fiberglass, plywood, OSB, T1-11 and vinyl-sided wood walls using fasteners suited to that surface. If you have an unusual panel thickness or material, contact us before your first production run. Full fastener and install guidance is on the cutout and install page.

How do trailer manufacturers and shed builders order in volume?

Contact us to discuss production volumes. Multi-packs (2-pack and 3-pack, keyed alike) are available today. For larger production runs, reach out through the contact form and note your estimated annual volume and build type (trailer, shed, other). A real person will reply within one business day.

Are LockingHatch doors made in the USA?

Yes. LockingHatch doors are designed and manufactured in Sarasota, Florida, by the same team behind The RV Fuel Vault. They are made from 3/16" fiber-filled polymer and carry a limited lifetime warranty.

What locking hatch sizes fit an enclosed cargo or V-nose trailer wall?

Two rectangular sizes are available. The Small door fits a 4-7/8" W × 5-1/8" H cutout; the bezel is 7-1/4" W × 6-7/8" H with 12 mounting holes. The Large door fits a 4-7/8" W × 6" H cutout; the bezel is 7-1/8" W × 8-1/8" H with 12 mounting holes. A true-scale printable template is available at no charge on the find-my-cutout page.
