Locking Hatch for Truck Caps, Toppers & Service Bodies
Side access to your truck bed without opening the tailgate.
Add a locking access door to the side of a fiberglass or aluminum truck cap, camper shell, or service body. Reach straps, tools, or a power cord from the side of the truck without dropping the tailgate or climbing into the bed.
Popular DIY Uses
- Side access to tie-down straps and tools
- Power cord for a fridge, battery, or bed-mounted inverter
- Fuel or water-line pass-through for overlanding setups
- Locked storage access on service bodies
Which size? The Small door fits most cap side panels. Measure the flat area first — the Small bezel needs 7-1/4" × 6-7/8" of flat surface.

Truck Caps & Toppers — FAQ
Can I cut a hatch into a fiberglass truck cap?
+
Yes. Mask the area with tape, cut with a fine-tooth jigsaw blade or oscillating tool, and fasten with #8 stainless machine screws and backing washers (or rivnuts). Seal with a flexible adhesive sealant. Pick a flat section away from the frame and window seals.
Will it work on a curved cap panel?
+
The flange needs a flat surface to seat properly. Choose the flattest area of the side panel, usually just below the window line.
What tools do I need?
+
A drill, a jigsaw or oscillating multi-tool (or a step bit and nibbler for sheet metal), a tape measure, exterior-grade sealant, and the right screws for your wall. Print our true-scale template so the cut lands exactly right.
